ADS is proud to serve our community. Below are several notable examples of our involvement with communities in NCWV:
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
When the popular TV show ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” chose to build a dream home for a Fairmont, WV family, Allegheny Design Services was proud to donate our structural engineering services for the project. The 2,800 square-foot, two story colonial house was built in one week, thanks to many volunteers and businesses donating their time and talents to complete the project.
It is the mission of RampUp to provide egress ramps from residences or businesses to disabled persons living in
the northern West Virginia region in order that such persons may maintain access to their residence or business during periods of unplanned or permanent disability thereby allowing them to continue an active lifestyle, seek meaningful employment, or receive necessary care. As one of the founding corporate sponsors of RampUp, ADS has served as a technical consultant in the development of the pre-fabricated ramp assemblies that RampUp seeks to use.
Deparment of Energy Solar Home
The Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon Competition challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. WVU’s student lead team first competed in the 2013 competition. ADS is currently serving as an advisor for the team as they prepare for the 2015 competition in Orange County, California. ADS will be reviewing the student’s designs and working with them as they prepare for the competition.
